Awkward photos.....

Awkward photo moments

So I was thinking about how we always want to see ourselves in the best light. We always want to put our best foot forward. We don't want to see our flaws let alone have others see us. In this journey of life and to self the reality for me is those awkward moments those that may be not so pretty to look at make us, me who I am today. Earlier this week I working on my professional page. You see the joy of the now but you never see the journey to that joy. You never ask my story or see the awkward before the beauty picture. Up until 2 years ago I did not take pictures. Now I take pictures everyday. I love them of myself and others. I love the touching moment between people and my friends. So here we have the awkward moments and the silent moments in between that you never get to see. Remember it's not about the destination it's about the joy in the journey.

I've always felt like that awkward woman but for the most part I'm learning how to take pictures. Thes are self explanatory. Some are subtle some are blurry outfit failures. I invite you to laugh along with me.

You are so right, it's about the journey, thanks for sharing these. I love the ones of you in front of a yellow courtyard....you are in the shadows....something very cool about those. And the ones where you and your pals are clearly laughing!

Have you heard of the book "Daring Greatly: how the courage to be vulnerable transforms how we live, love, parent, and lead"? I just started reading and it is a truly awesome book. I bet you would love it!

Chris I actually read this in our church for a women's book reading.  The impact and  statements and combined where I was on my journey in life helped me to move forward in a positive and healthy way.  I thought those to be eerie also. I need to invest in a real camera instead of just a phone.  Sometimes the images will come out grainy

I hope you enjoy reading the book and maybe we can discuss it once you are finished. reading them..

Fun collection, Ledonna! 10 really made me laugh, and 34, with a flower pot "growing" out of your shoulder.

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

HAH. A day without laughter is a very wasted day. Ledonna, NONE of your days are wasted!

I like #45 best. Lots of spirit and goodwill in that photo. Killer outfit too.

It's a good thing you pointed out what was awkward, would not have known otherwise! Lol.

Have not read the book mentioned, but it sounds interesting. I heard a homily once on the subject tho that caught my attention - maybe the priest read the book...

These are so great Ledonna and as far as I'm concerned each photo is a winner. I love the ones of you laughing heartily....they make me laugh too. You fun is infectious :)

What Rachy said....I didn't see the awkward, I just saw the joy and the perseverance and the amazing style. Actually I was thinking as I was scrolling through, Is there nothing this woman can't put on and OWN? Seriously, you look great. And I love your black and white specs on you.

My daughter (age 16)  is constantly telling me she is awkward. She deliberately takes unflattering photos for her Snapchats with friends. But really she is a beautiful creature. Like you.

I enjoyed your photos. My favorite was #41. I take photos of myself too, and think it's helping me become less awkward in front of the camera. I used to grimace in almost every photo but am learning to relax. Like you, I am enjoying the journey.

Oops, it was actually 11 that really cracked me up--clowning with the dress form torso, though your hamming it up in 10 is a lot of fun, too.

  • Ledonna N. replied 7 years ago

Firecracker -my friend Meosha of One Savvy Veteran gave me a bust form and I held it in an inappropriate way. Lol so we were cracking up wow. Lol

Bonnie one of my growing edges is learning to love my gap between my teeth. I don't like smiling . My friends were telling me my smile was nice.

Ummlila thank you. I'm sure your daughter is as beautiful as you are.

Awe Suz thank you. You are a style beast! (In a great way) I receive what you are saying.

Diane the goal is to make ledonna laugh from behind the camera. I always crack up.

Rachylou you are such a unique galexy. Our pastor reads so much and,we have studies exceed the standard church fare.

Angie thank you so much I enjoyed the harem pants and the shoes so much. Again as a result of making donna laugh behind the camera.
