Textiles & Frabics

Hey Family how are you all this Tuesday morning?

Me, I'm sitting in my car posting 15 minutes before I start work. Work has been super busy but, I'm handling it. I love that I get to have a creative outlet like this blog and the family.

So I recently went on a trip to a beautiful Textile & Fabric shop. I got to go with my friends Tem, Jarod, and Angela. I love having clothing made and on this day Tem and I were picking fabric to make for event I have coming up.

The store was filled with so many goodies it has 3 huge floors and every kind of fabric and notion you could think of and some you could not. We took lots of pictures.

Textile & Fabric has been in the Chi for over 40 years and this was my 1st time going. Tem, whom we call the Fashioner has created some of my most beautiful  & dressy garments I've posted. Angela is a seamstress and Jared well he loves clothing and works in the Fashion industry among other things.

So my outfit was purchase at what is called a Fleek Market. It is an indoor outdoor flee market. It was like $15 I used the top as a head wrap and put on a tank underneath because it is deliciously hot in the Chi. Everything else is thrifted.

As always thank you for look commenting or both. Comments are always welcome.

Sound like so much fun. I love browsing fabric stores and especially love the button and trim sections.

  • Ledonna N. replied 7 years ago

Suz & Deb it was like a field trip. Lol

OMGoodness, I would be like a kid in a candy store in that place! I love to sew and make my own clothes, and the only thing we have around here is Joann's and Hobby Lobby.

  • Diana replied 7 years ago

Oh, wow that store looks amazing!  I can barely sew a straight line and don't own a sewing machine but every time I go to fabric stores I still have to restrain myself from buying piles of it, LOL. ;)  One day I will learn to sew for real.

I love your outfit too!  Love the contrast color tank peeking out from under that amazing drapey dress.

Don't you love fabric stores? I want to redo my sittIng room but am now suffering from decor paralysis. Lol. I keep going to the fabric store. It's too much fun to consider and reconsider.

Your headwraps are to die for -- so chic and perfect for hot weather.  And I love the rest of your outfit, too -- especially those boots, dang!  What a fun adventure, you guys are like kids in the candy store!  :)

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

That's amazing! I would hardly have known where to look. The textures look rich and beautiful also.

LOVE your outfit. Headwrap and dress -- so chic and elegant but grounded by the boots.

  • Eliza replied 7 years ago

That store is everything. Wow. I don't sew and yet I want to touch all the fabrics and play with the trims.

You look fab in your clever head wrap and dress. Can't wait to see what it all becomes.

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

How FUN. Do you know what type of outfit you want to have made yet, Ledonna?

    Love your head wrap.

  • Jenn replied 7 years ago

Wow, that is SUCH a cool place. You must have had a blast exploring it.

I like your choice to put a tank under that dress and use the top as a head wrap. It pulls everything together, and feels very genuine to YOU.

We have a fabric store like that - I love it! Ours has normal fabric, but also stuff I might never need, such as the fabric that lines the trunk of a car. I look forward to seeing your new outfit.

Karie-Oh, I cannot even sew.  I wish that I could.  I have no patience for it or I just cannot find someone who willing to teach me. You must make some fab creations.

Diana-If memory severs me right you Knit.  I thing that is an amazing gift and skill set.

    Jane- thank you so much

rachylou I love the store it was my first time in one that was not a jo-anns or hancock fabrics.  It  feels really alive and I could spend hours there if by myself.  It is like going into a library.  I understand about having to many choices.  I could not make up my mind I saw so many fabrics, prints, and textures that I wanted.

Xtabay thank you it was like getting lost i a maze.  A good one where you could touch and fee everything.

Suz- It was a visual feast and the textures amazing.  I was lucky that Angela & Tem were experts and kept me grounded.

Jenn- Thank you I liked the different pattern of the tank underneath.  I also cannot wait for fall winter so I can wear the top.  and tights and boots.

Eliza-I cannot wait to show you what the fabric I picked out becomes.  It was an experience to say the least.

Angie-Hey Angie, I know exactly what I want.  I given Tem a base of where to start but he is taking the design to the next level.  I will post a picture soon of the fabric and the inspiration photo.  The fabric had to be water friendly and breathable.

Jaileen-It must be an experience to see.  It sounds like it thank you for sharing.

Angie here is the inspiration photo and her is the mesh fabric it is light weight quick drying. Tem is going to make the top an off the shoulder top with a beautiful hood. The pants are what is sumilar.
