Milestones, Family & Frogs...

Good morning family!

As the beginning of another week starts I'm always in awe of how the time flies. I always look back and say wow that's quick and no matter how many pictures I take it still just seems to pass by quicker and quicker. When I was younger I had this friend and he was in the sixties. I used to say I'm So Young blah blah blah la la la la life goes on. And he would say just wait, just wait the older you get the more time will fly. And I never really understood that until I became now middle-aged. I now view life im moments anyway enough of me rambling.

Zi'Joy and I had a fulfilling weekend. Friday was a visit and orientation to her new daycare and learning facility. Saturday was a family get-together and celebration I would say a mini family reunion and a visit to the park to enjoy the natural Wildlife which consisted this day of dragonflies butterflies and frogs. Sunday we had great intentions to celebrate a wonderfully gifted artist and folk singer named Ella Jenkins but time ran away with us and so we stayed at home and relaxed. Ella Jenkins was a folk singer who was inducted into the national History Museum and the Library of Congress for her beautiful works and songs for children. We were celebrating her 95th birthday here in Chicago at our local Navy Pier but it wasn't until 4 in the afternoon out on the lawn. And if you have to work the next day and life goes on it's hard to make those kind of things sometimes.

So on to what we wore on Friday I had the pleasure of repeating an outfit because I had jury duty. It was so nice I just had to repeat it. I only wore it for a little bit. The fit was a great way to meet and go on a tour and orientation for baby nuggets new Learning Center. This was as close to yoga pants as I get. Soft blue material stretchy material with polka dots a nice denim vest with a Peplum look blue top and a African print necktie.

Saturday in the Park it was very difficult choosing something to wear as we had a family gathering also to celebrate birthdays and just get together. I find myself struggling with what to wear. Most of my clothes pre-pregnancy worked brfore with my flat stomach which to me was one of my assets. Now I have a tummy and to be honest with you. I think without a tummy tuck it's not really going anywhere and it makes it harder to accommodate my older clothes so I wound up trying to do some camouflaging and trying to figure things out. The weather was wonky. It was a cool hot Cool Rain kind of day. Zi'Joy had a beautiful onesie that was dark blue and a beautiful pair of socks. We decided to just enjoy the park which is just beautiful I love that our Suburb has beautiful parks and wr can just get out and enjoy outside. Zi'Joy srems to love talking to the trees and just nature.

Sunday was a very relaxing day we decided to do pattern mixing color mixing headwraps we are a maximal family. Well at least until Zi'Joy is able to give her opinion at two or three to decide what she's going to wear. I just love dressing baby she is really a no-fuss baby and a happy baby even though she's teething at this point. I wore a lot of layers I'm wondering if I'm hiding my body. I'm not sure but I really liked how it came out everything else I've worn before here on the site the long layer of the top is a green mesh. I wore a camouflage tank top underneath I had a dark green wide leg linen pants oh my God these are so beautiful I love them so much. My head wrap was green and off-white and I just love this look shoes are a repeat because I refuse to acknowledge that I'm a size 12 now instead of a US size 11. I'm sorry I didn't capture Zi'Joy's full outfit because she was so pretty she reminded me of Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmatians just a color scheme going on and she rocked the heck out of everything so here's a selfie that we took in church after church was over. She's just so cute.

The last picture is from school today baby girl it's growing she's 4 months old and this is a quick drop off of my sister and me dropping her off. I didn't get emotional and I didn't cry cuz I realize that you know this is a necessary part of what we have to do and I'm so thankful that we found a wonderful day care facility daycare center. Facility sounds so bad.

So I know there are many pictures and commentary but thank you for reading looking commenting all are welcome as usual. Or just stop by to say hi now I'm off to read your post and look at pictures because I just love looking at them. I may not be able to comment on everything as usual but I really thank you for reading and I hope this week and this post finds you well until next time be well on your fashion Journey.

Oh my - what a cute baby!  I love her little headwrap in #16.  I really like your outfit as well with the pattern mixing and green color scheme.  I love my kids, but I'm not sentimental and have yet to cry at any drop-off or first day of school.

So glad you got out and enjoyed the weekend with her. I hear you on time speeding up once you have a growing little one to measure it by.
Nice to see summer in a place where you can actually wear layers outside and be comfortable. How great are those pants you have on in number 6? Bright, colorful, cool pattern... really nice! But my favorite pic is #5 because I want to eat those toes!

I hope daycare's going well. Knowing that your baby is being taken care of well is so important. I wonder if she will wait that long to have and express an opinion about what she wears. I remember my little guy, not yet 2.5 yet, beaming at himself in the mirror in a jacket and wanting to wear it for his sitter the  next day.  With your influence, this child might want fashion her way every day sooner than you'd think!

Thanks Sarha My sister swears up and down that I will cry at the drop of  a hat but I have yet to  do that.  I love the greens as well and we have to love a good pattern.

Fashionteren.  Oh she is a juicy baby lol and #5 is my favorite as well.  I just love layers and fall winter I feel like I shine.  I feel safe with our choice of centers which helps me to be able to focus and not worry about Zi.  I hope she picks what she loves and the younger the better.  The only thing I worry about is  how others will treat her.  Kids can be cruel and I don't want that for her.  I want her to have an independent spirit.

Zi`Joy is a gorgeous baby.  She would be fun to dress.  Enjoy it!  I love your green pants.

  • rachylou replied 6 years ago

I see Zi'Joy is staying awake longer and longer. The baby phases are so interesting.

You always have the best clothes. You and Deborah. Love those blue pants. How can I improve my shopping? Find more unique shops and things?

  • pil replied 6 years ago

Thanks for sharing, Ladonna. Zion'Joy's cheeks are sooo cute!

  • Runcarla replied 6 years ago

Gosh! I'm torn - love your 'fro so much, but you do the best wraps, too! Arrgghhh! Your WIW posts always make me happy. Love your unrestrained use of colour.

  • Aquamarine replied 6 years ago

Zi'Joy is just scrumptious. Enjoy every minute, because it does go by fast. They say the days are long but the years are fast when you have little ones.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

Wow, so much eye candy!  Wait until Zi'Joy starts kindergarten.  Time just speeds up.  Your posts are always so happy and beautiful.

I love pic 4 of you and Zi'Joy.  You both look so peaceful and happy and beautiful.  But my favourite clothing pic is 13!!

My sons do not share my love of clothes.  They go for comfortable, handy and not embarassing...

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 6 years ago

I enjoyed reading your musings and your account of your weekend, Ledonna. And your pictures and outfits are so beautiful. My favorite outfit is the olive flowy top and pants, with the print cropped jacket. Dynamite! You are an inspiration. It's hard to deal with the body changes, I'm sure, but you look so wonderful no one would know.

  • replied 6 years ago

100% lovely and charming!  Cheers to both you lovelies, and wishing all good things in this world.  Zi'Joy's adorableness is off the charts!

  • replied 6 years ago

    Zi'Joy is getting so big.

You look breathtakingly beautiful in number 13.

  • skylurker replied 6 years ago

Thanks for sharing, Ledonna, you look great in your fluid wide trousers.

  • RobinF replied 6 years ago

Love your post, sounds like a perfect weekend. Sorry you aren't feeling your best but you are looking fabulous! It can take a while to lose that baby belly, give it time. Great outfits, love little Zi'joy's blue and white dress, so cute. And your green flowy outfit is perfect.

  • Bijou replied 6 years ago

You and Zi'Joy look fantastic. I especially love your green mesh outfit. Don't despair and throw away your old clothes, baby is still so very young. Your body is still in transition, you will get back to close to your old size (honestly, my stomach is not quite as flat as in the pre-baby days...), it just takes time and more sit ups than I am prepared to do!

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

I can't wait for Zion' Joy to get a fab fro like her Mama.

It's always a treat to see you and Nugget out and about, Ledonna. You spread joy wherever you are.

  • jill58 replied 6 years ago

Wonderful pics Ledonna -- Zi'Joy is adorable!

  • Scarlet replied 6 years ago

So I am viewing these pictures on a teeny tiny screen, but from what I can tell the exuberant patterns are suiting you and Zi'joy to a T. She is getting such a sweet, expressive face. I am happy to hear you have identified a daycare situation you feel comfortable with. That is so important for you as Mom to get on with your day, as you must. Also I feel you on the loss of a formerly flat tummy. In my case, and I wonder if in yours too as a fellow shorty, my abdominal wall has separated somewhat such that the muscles are literally not there to hold it in. Supposedly one can do exercises to strengthen the transverse abdominal muscles to bring the abdominal wall back together. I have firm plans of testing this theory...someday. Maybe when the babies are older :)

  • Paula replied 6 years ago

Ledonna,  Zi'Joy looks adorable in her blue and white dress. And I love the black print jacket you're sporting in #12!  You are definitely a maximal family! :)

  • Laurie replied 6 years ago

That baby is so adorable- she's changing so fast!!  The best thing about every one of these photos is the evident joy - you named her so well!   I cried when I left my first one for the first time.  He was at home with a caregiver I knew wasn't the greatest.  Within weeks she was gone, and I had the baby at a day care center near my work, and I felt great leaving him there.

Oh - and great outfits!  You know what they say about kids and dogs upstaging, though!

  • Jenava replied 6 years ago

The green outfit is to die for. Love your stream of consciousness writing. Having been right there a SHORT two years ago I was nodding and laughing a crying reading it. Hugs. You are beautiful (as is baby girl, of course! Nothing is more gorgeous than a baby, amiright?)

  • Jane replied 6 years ago

Love 11 and 12! Great colours and patterns. Little Nugget is so cute! Love that she enjoys getting dressed up. Bless her with the teething. Sore.

You are right, facility is a rotten word for something where children are looked after! But that said, they are great places, regardless of the name, and DS loved his very much!

You look really well and happy! As usual!

    Friendship Bernard

  • Laura G replied 6 years ago

#13 is my favorite, the long side-slit tunic over pants. Bernard says the blue shirt looks very good on you and it's his favorite outfit. I bet you figured out for yourself that your petit enfant is magnifique!

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

Style Fan Zi'Joy is a pleasure to dress very easy and laid back.  She is like mama okay I'll wear whatever for now.

Rachy Lou I can now say she sleeps through the night for now.  Thank you for including me with Deborah her style is beyond. Then again I love everything you wear.  I remember the hoop skirt  you wore long ago.  for the Shops  I ask people that are near and whose clothes I like to look at and I go in wacky place or offbeat and shop often.

Pil her cheeks are so squishy soft

Runcarla  I would have to say thank you   The good news is we don't have to choose we can do a both and. lol  One time I was told by this beautiful little boy you look like the whole crayon box and he gave me the biggest hug.  Best compliment ever

Aquamarine  I love that saying and how true it is.

Joy thank you so much ah kindergarten  I cannot wait and look forward to all it has to bring.

MsGreer Thank you. Our suburb is pretty amazing it is what I looked for when choosing our home.

Sal that is a great mix for the boys they may become more adventurous in the future.  I have a feeling that my little one will go for the same and that is okay.  i want her to find her voice in all things.

Firecracker Thank you so much  I just ramble thank you for reading and I think this is one of my most favorites.

Xtabay  Thank you and we are wishing you all the same to include much joy and laughter.

    Skylurker Fluid is key

RobinF I will give the body time ugh it just I'm putting together outfits now because it takes longer to get dressed.

Bijou  I am fully with you "It just takes more time and sit ups than I am prepared to do"  I just did not know how busy life would get.

Angie  I want her to rock out in her fro.

    Jill58 thank you

Scarlet What great words of wisdom and so true.  Just had a check up with dr and he said the exact same thing because of the birth baby was big sitting under my rib cage the muscles have pulled away from the wall.  Very interesting all of this stuff that the body can handle and change.

Paula I love that dress and probably will incorporate it into her quilt blanket I plan on making.

LaurieT he choices that we have to make with our babies ugh.  Sometimes the universe will correct what needs to be and to be honest.  I was thinking that I would be doing that if I was not blessed with the center that she is in now.  With the cost associated with day cares it is so frustrating.  It is good to know you placed your little one where he needed to be.

Jeneva Awe you were just here it is good that  we can look back with fondness. Any advise you have will be appreciated.

Jane You can just tell when the little ones are happy with who watches over them even at a young age.   I cannot wait for fall and winter so that we can add texture to her outfits.

Benard Thank you so much Between Google translate Laura G and a bit of old fashioned deciphering I full understood the translation.  Thank you for your beautiful words.

Laura G Thank you so much I pretty much felt like my descriptor from long ago a Warrior Queen.  Google translate is not my friend. lol

As usual thank you so much for taking the time to comment and or leave an encouraging word.  It is greatly appreciated.  I love how we build communities.  Forgive me for not responding sooner that is life but I wanted to acknowledge you all.

  • MsMary replied 6 years ago
