Ice cream socials and lunch in the park...

Our weekend adventure on Saturday led us to our local library for an ice cream social! As a working single mom it's challenging to find events to do especially working on a limited budget. So I try to plan our adventures in advance. Have car will travel, have bus pass will travel, have legs that work will travel.

I believe this life is all about what you make it and today we made the fun outing at the library reading getting to know other people other parents and children and just enjoying a beautiful day all around. There's so many exciting things to do around the city and in the suburbs but on this day we chose to go to the library.

Our looks for this day were very simply casual and fun. I thrifted my overalls at least five years ago and they were up cycled by beautiful friend. Zi'Joy's Was thrifted before she was born last year. So yes we went looking alike for now I like dressing us the same or similar to each other not every day but a lot. Our thrifted and gifted and upcycled looks or purchase for less than $20 together.

So on Sunday the wind down of the weekend we did not do our usual church service. We choose to go to the 11 am service. While it was enjoyable. I was reminded once again why i go to the 7:30 a.m. service. Our day seemed shortened but i decided to take us to one of our local parks. I just love this one and Zi'Joy and I ate a late lunch there. Our looks today were again matching. This time our headwrap material was the same. Not to worry i found a safe tutorial for her head wrap it was very easy and safe. Yes I did carry the parasol in to Church because we have to walk from the parking lot to the church and she didn't have a sun hat on we decided to carry the parasol. I just keep it in my trunk. God mommy bought me two necklaces that are teething necklaces. I'm not sure about them yet but I got a chance to wear them in Zion'Joy did enjoy them.

A sweater that was high low a mesh belt denim slipper shoes and some harem pants that I love and have sported them before completed my look.    Zion'Joy had a onesie with polka dots and a simple white onesie underneath completed her look. She did have some Red Soxs on in church cuz it was a little cold.

From our family to yours We hope you have a beautiful weekend and remember all are welcome commenters, stop by to say hello or lurkers.

Hard to know what to love more! It's so good to get out and about with a little one.
I adore your matching denim - so gorgeous and what a great talking point too. And wow you look smashing at Church, your parasol just tops off a very elegant outfit. You both look amazing in your wraps!

I like how you look for both occasions.  I also like the sound of an ice cream social very much.

There are some cool events on in cities now and often they are cost effective/free which is fab.  When my two were small I used to take advantage of reading sessions etc in the library.

Just love how seriously(!) coordinated you and Zi'Joy are in the engineer overalls.

  • JAileen replied 6 years ago

I love you two in your matching overalls. Too cute!

  • DonnaF replied 6 years ago

The two of you are so adorable! Too much fabulous-ness to choose a favorite.

  • frannieb replied 6 years ago

So cute. I live the matching outfits. Today I we went out to dinner and saw a family - Mom and three kids and all of them were wearing camo - either leggings, shorts or a t-shirt. It was so stinking cute.
The matching head wraps are adorable. You smile always makes me smile and how you storytell the origins of your outfits is such a beautiful gift you share with us.

Yay! I've been thinking about you two, hoping you were having a good week/ weekend, keeping you too busy to comment. You two are darling as ever. Love her engineer bibs and your parasol, also your red with the bib overalls.

Goodness, Ledonna, you are one stylish mama! I love your Sunday outfit--one of my alltime favorites of yours. Those harem pants, the high-love sweater, belt, loafers, your amazing headwrap, and all topped with a chic parasol! Zi'Joy with her matching outfits is just adorable. I love the extra pics of her--what a precious baby. I enjoy hearing about your adventures, and how you make the most of what's on offer in your neighborhood.

Saw the thread title and thought it was you, Ledonna. Great outfits and mother daughter fun! You both look happy and beautiful. Even asleep, Zion Joy telegraphs love. Enjoyed seeing your church looks with the parasol, as well as the headscarves.

Ah  The work week can be challenging as I pull a 14 day on call shift.  Today Monday happens to be my last day on call of the swing shift.  It can be hectic but, I am used to it.  I have to get used to it with baby now.  As I sit here and write replies and get caught up on all that is FAB in the YLF fashion universe.  I don't think that life will slow down so I just buckle up.  I think we all just make it work.

I felt tired this weekend and as Zi'Joy and I made plans on Friday morning. I was just really tired.  from the long and draining work week.  I try to take her to the library 2x a week.  Although there were many things to do I really wanted to stay home.  I know Zi'Joy does not really get out of the house much so I want to take  her out while we can go.  I plan our outings and I love seeing her little face discoverer something new or fall asleep as I'm reading to her.

I am thankful to my teenage niece whom takes our pictures and collects all the books at the library for us to read.  I've been taking my neice to the same library from the age of 2.  It really is the epicenter of our home.  So different than when we were kids.  They have a large movie theater and something for kids 0-19 gaming rooms.  video monitors computers engineering arts and crafts and the kids can be kids loud and talkative.  it is amazing I love spending time there.

I do kinda of like seeing families dress alike.  I used to think it was hokey but, it must be some kind of magic family thing that happens and takes over the brain because I'm full into it.  lol  Oh well.

Thank you everyone for reading and commenting.

Zi'Joy's hair accessories are about the most stylish things I have ever seen on a baby - or anyone. You both look and are amazing.

  • Mirjana replied 6 years ago

Wow, how lovely you are both! Baby is really beautiful, hair accessories are so stylish I am speechless.

  • kkards replied 6 years ago

wow....now this is some mother daughter bonding! love love love the matching engineer stripes!

  • skylurker replied 6 years ago

#13-14 are beautiful, you're so cute with your matching wraps

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

I figure i am Maximal and those cute little bows will not do for us. We need color texture and pattern. This in was made from denim and i love it for her.

Okay come on! who does not LOVE engineer stripes? Forgot to include the picture from the icecream social. I did not want to the ones with other kids but we had some fun.

  • Kate replied 6 years ago

You knew you had me at striped overalls!! Times two, no less. You and Nugget are flat out adorable. I so miss my overalls. And now I want ice cream.

Love those shoes with the harem pants, and the matching head wraps. Your Sunday in the park with Nugget sounds like the perfect wrap up to a beautiful summer weekend.

  • cindysmith replied 6 years ago

    I can't decide who's cuter! Love this

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

In my mind everyone should have a great pair of overalls.

Thank you both so much. Never knew I'd be into so much matchy matchy.

  • Amy Isabella replied 6 years ago

Oh WOW! You both look absolutely ahhhhhmazing. Thank you for brightening my day with your gorgeous pictures. Simply stunning Ledonna.

  • Chris987 replied 6 years ago

I don't always comment on your postings LeDonna but I always read them am wowed by your zest for life and positive spirit. You have so much going on but always have something uplifting to say, and take the time to put yourself and baby girl into such lovely outfits! She is one lucky babe to have you as her momma and we are lucky to have you as a member of YLF. :-) .

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

Your matching outfits are a YLF HIGHLIGHT. I am WOWED. The affection and verve bounces off my screen.

  • replied 6 years ago

I especially love your Sunday outfits and think you look especially graceful in that combination. The close fitting top combined with the voluminous but supple pants is super flattering to you. Darker shades top and bottom may not be important but that they're similar probably is. Your face and the details you add, like your jewelry and head wrap really stand out.

Zion'Joy has that fussed over look I love for little babies, everything just so.

Of course I love photo 16, it's adorable, but my favorite is 13. Your strength shows in that one, in your face and the arm supporting Zion'Joy and it's really beautiful.

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

I just had to comment.  The real world is moving so fast.  Thank you all so much.

The YLF Community & Angie have taught me to wear what I love and Love what I wear.  So every time I reach into my wardrobe I put on things that have a high happiness factor.  Why not be that way for Zi'Joy.  Teaching us to love ourselves to wholeness I believe also includes the garments we cloth ourselves with.

Chris987  I am a reader also and a lurker because I just don't have the time.  I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to comment as I do all who do.

Isabel I believe that we should not be categorized Keep'em guessing.  I try to do it all because a wardrobe should be fun.

Zi'Joy has a wardrobe I love and it takes less time to dress her than it does me.  I already have her fits put together as I do mine. It save time and effort.

As always be well on your fashion Journey.
