I took a walk

Happy Friday Family.

Does anyone know the song by Passion Pit Take a Walk:?  If you don't it's a great song and I provided a youtube link. Songs and dancing fill my soul with joy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZX6Q-Bj_xg

Sometimes do you ever feel like you need to take a walk?  By yourself or with a friend.  Life seems to weigh us down and sometimes you cannot see your path clearly it gets crowded with thoughts, work, bill, responsibility, family demands, demands demands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been sometime sense I've just taken a walk and this was a beautiful day to take a walk and vent the frustrations that had been building.  By the end of the of the walk I felt that my burdens has been put into perspective.  Noting really resolved but by clearing my head space I could see my path a little clearer.  I would recommend taking a walk if you can even if it is just around the bldg at work.  I work across the street Lake Michigan but I have become dimmed to its beauty.  I remember seeing it for the first time and rejoicing in how I could work across the street from such a beautiful thing and how it would bring me pleasure just going to eat by the lake.

I thought as I was fresh out of the military how in the world could anyone work when they are right across the street from this?  It fades into the background and the noise of life that is how.  I have to see it with fresh eyes and so I took a walk.  I walked in one of the most beautiful gardens in the middle of the city.  It was so refreshing.  We had old men talking to us we saw geese and ducks and for a few we received a respite from the outer world.

I hope you all have a good weekend and enjoy each other.  As always I've included pictures of my friends.

My fit was thrifted from head to toe.  I guess by now you all know that I love flow due to personal summers and and how it looks so easy breezy.

As always comments would be loved and or just stop by to say hello.  I've included the

I took a walk lyrics

All these kinds of places
Make it seem like it's been ages
Tomorrow's sun with buildings scrape the sky
I love this country dearly
I can feel the lighter clearly
But never thought I'd be alone to try
Once I was outside Penn Station
Selling red and white carnations
You were still alone
My wife and I
Before we marry, save my money
Brought my dear wife over
Now I want to bring my family state side
But off the boat they stayed a while
Then scatter cross the course
Once a year I'll see them for a week or so at most
I took a walk
Take a walk, take a walk, take a walk
Take a walk, oh-oh-oh
Take a walk, oh-oh-oh
I take a walk
Take a walk, take a walk, take a walk
Take a walk, take a walk, take a walk
Practice isn't perfect
With the market cuts and loss
I remind…

How wonderful! I need this reminder, too. It's hot all the time now, but I do have a nice little park in my neighborhood. With a duck pond and funny ducks who sit under the trees and try to sneak into the pool. And if it's hot there will be fewer other people around. I'll try to take a walk after work this afternoon. :)

There's nothing like a long brisk walk to get rid of the cobwebs in your head. Good job.

I LOVE this outfit, Ledonna. It really expresses your free and positive spirit. Killer.

  • RobinF replied 7 years ago

Great song and love your outfit. That tie dye poncho is fab!

  • cobaltblue replied 7 years ago

How lovely, Ledonna! I'm glad you've refreshed your spirit and renewed your appreciation for the beauty around you. I love walking for this reason - slows you down and renews your connection to your surroundings.

Gorgeous pics. You are so right about a walk. Having a dog, I walk daily and hiking is a regular part of my life. I don't usually hike alone in the wild because BEARS, but I do love a good walk or run in my neighborhood to clear my head. One reason I chose to raise a child here is to expose his eye and brain to mountains, rivers and trees all the time. He spends a month in NYC every summer for some city life - which I love too - but I want his heart to be grounded in natural beauty. I'm glad you have green in your life because you are a wild soul.

Such a fabulous outfit, Ledonna !
Love the trousers shape, and the pattern mixing, esp love that floaty top on you.

  • Chloe88 replied 7 years ago

Love your attitude and the picture #28!
Hey, its been scientifically proven that walking clears the head.
BTW: I'm new to this forum: does "fit from thrift" mean you got your cute outfit at thrift stores? I LOVE to shop thrift stores too!

    Thanks for sharing!

Lovely outfit as usual. Love those mermaid sneakers...you should be singing "Under the Sea" as you stroll.

Wow, you work right next to that magnificent lake?? I get how it become part of your world that you don't notice every day...but you are so lucky to be near it.

In addition to just plain feeling good and sweeping out the cobwebs, taking a walk outdoors has some measureable positive effects, like improving problem solving skills and lowering blood pressure...can't remember all the details but it is  REAL. :-)

When I saw the title of your post--I immediately thought of this song!  I love it.
    Also your comment : "
It fades into the background and the noise of life that is how."
really resonated with me--life is full of noise--both internal and external-we have to find a way to silence the noise and appreciate our life and our surroundings.  Well done Ledonna--your joy is obvious and contagious!  :)

Yes I take walks, I always get better ideas when I walk!  Unfortunately it gets so hot here in high summer (high 90s, no shade at all), that I find it impossible.  If I were an early morning person I'd get up and walk, but since I usually work until 11 pm, I get up around 9 am.  I really like the way you wrote about walks as well as how we can take natural beauty for granted, we become so easily habituated as human beings (both a good and bad thing).

I love this outfit for you, and must give credit to the photographer!  Pictures 12, 16 and 17 are excellent and special.

CocoLion, You sound like you have late nights.  I will tell you Meosha that you like the pictures she took.

Angela K.  It is so hard to turn down the inner voices I sometimes have to say out loud please be quiet.  lol

Chris987 I am beginning to wear those shoes out.  They are in my top 5 favorites.  Now I will not be able to get that song out of my head. lol

Chole88 Welcome to to forum and you got it exactly right.  I it is good to meet another thrifter.  There are many of the Family that thrift also.  I love it.  I'm to lazy to type out outfit lol.  Go figure because I'm long winded.  I'm glad you enjoyed #28 that is one of my favorites.  That is my friend Meosha who you will see often in pictures.

Skylurker thank you  I love to pattern mix even if it is subtle.

Alsakagirl Oh how fun to know that you run everyday and you and your son can see the natural beauty.  I miss the mountains of Arizona where I could see land and sky for miles.  We have t go look for it here in the city.

cobaltblue that it does the connection to our surroundings and those we tend to overlook.

Robin F, Angie  Thank you so much I loved the fit and the walk

Ginger I hope you get a chance for that walk.

Beautiful outfit! I love the top/ caftan on you. So flowing and free.

I live near Lake Ontario and go for a walk along the lake almost every day because it's so good for my mental health.

  • replied 7 years ago

Love the tie-die number - very cool.  I get some of my best ideas when I walk - as I did just earlier today at lunch.  Other times my mind just wanders - and I let whatever music I'm listening to take me on a trip down memory lane.   Some good old vitamin D (from the sun) and fresh air never hurt anyone either ;)

  • rachylou replied 7 years ago

What a wonderful top! Y'all look lovely and summery. The brain is evolved for walking. A nice walk is lovely!

  • Runs With Scissors replied 7 years ago

Love the tye-dye top and custom sneaks -- and the way you turn each day into an adventure!

100% agree regarding walks.  When I was an engineer, were many times when I was stuck on a problem at work, took a 10 minute walk, and when I returned to my desk, the problem practically solved itself.   Nowadays the hard part is getting away from the office even for 10 minutes during the day.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

Such a gorgeous setting for a walk. It looks peaceful and bright! I love your outfit. This is one of my favorites of yours yet. I could sort of copy it, in fact--I have a pair of pants that look a bit like that, and a tank top that I could layer over them. (Must try it when the heat arrives here, soon!)

  • Ledonna N. replied 7 years ago

    Thank you all for reading.

Firecracker you put together some amazing fits. I cannot wait to see the results.

RWSThe walks are so important. I forgot how much.

Rachylou you are so inspiring to me. For real for real.

Lisap you are so right. Just being renewed but the sun oh man.

Suz. You have to take a picture for me. Pretty please with sugar on it. Wow

  • Runcarla replied 7 years ago

I walk a lot, but it is usually to get somewhere, running errands and such. All business. I need to take a page from your book, and just slow things down, take a walk for no other purpose than to enjoy the beauty around me, and be with myself.

This outfit is one of my favourites. The blue and white looks so cool and fresh, but with 'happy feet' to reflect your vibrant personality.

    Walk on!

  • Bijou replied 7 years ago

Your posts are incredibly uplifting and you and your friends always look as though you are having the most fun time. And as for the fashion, you all look beautiful! I love that your friend is showcasing those tiny shoes - they are beyond cute.

  • Ledonna N. replied 7 years ago

Bijou thank you!  We only have this one life and we choose to make each other happy!  Cause we all have valley moments.  It is choosing to rejoice in-spite of being in the valley.

RunCarla Get out and enjoy the day.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

Love your outfit and your energy that bursts through the pictures. I cannot go more than one day without a walk for my mental health.

  • viva replied 7 years ago

I love this top on you, LeDonna. It has a life of its own in the wind and air which somehow seems perfect. I'm a walker too, with or without my dogs. It clears my head, evens me out, shows me the beauty of nature, slows down a racing mind, and gives birth to new ideas. I will walk as long as I can stand.

  • Nishaa replied 7 years ago

Ledonna, I love you and I envy you.
    Nothing more to say.

As a child, I would often walk 6 or 7 miles after dinner in the evening.  It was my time to think and release.  Once, when I was having boyfriend troubles, I got up and walked out 7 miles -- and had to walk back!  I wasn't wearing sneakers, nope.  I was wearing those wooden Dr. Scholl's sandals.  Blisters were on my toes, but my anger was gone, and I wished the boyfriend good luck on his next relationship that very night.

Love the tunic, the shoes!  Are you down by the river?
