Happy birthday moments...

Well hello family!

I always wondered why we celebrate baby's birthday months. I kind of understand it now. It's because we never know what the future may hold. So we celebrate the MOMents not really the month but the moments.

So in our family we have this tradition of singing the Stevie Wonder version of Happy Birthday to you. Today I woke up well today Zi'Joy woke me up with her traditional smile and laughter and rolling. She knew that something special was going on today. I realized that today was her 7 th month birthday.

For 9 months of pregnancy and 7 months living in this world today my little one turn 7 months. I have blogged about our Journeys our Adventures not every day but Faithfully, stylishly and in our truth. I feel like this Blog My Life our journey together has been so much more Fuller because she has become such a big part of my life. She makes each day enjoyable even the challenging times like when I took a vacation day off the other day just so we could have Halloween together and enjoy ourselves. We were going to do a Mommy and Me day but it things don't always go as planned. Poor little on the suffering growing teeth. So we just spent the day at home and made the best of it heading out trick-or-treating candy.

I have to remind myself that is not about the destination but it is about the journey and I think being an older mom 43 for the first time it gives me a perspective that I would not have had as a younger Mom. I'm more relaxed and more laid-back I am more open to things not going as planned. I think the one commonality that we all have is as mother's as women it can be challenging. We are expected to be Superwoman I want to bust that myth yet change the narrative that being single older mom can be a wonderful thing.

This is our stylish Journey to and through her 7 months. Right before fall settled in comfortably and the coldness overtook us this beautiful photo shoot took place at a park after our church service. I love these photos the pink and the yellows they all somehow work together. Pictures 1-4. Zi'Joy with her big flower she is known for her signature flowersr. I with my African print head scarf just a piece of African material that I wear more often than naught.

Picture 5 was from this morning her joyous smile and her bib that says born sassy.

6/7 another coordinated outfit of mother and daughter we went out to visit family and friends on this day.

8-11 our Halloween wedding coordinator looks. My daughter's calendar is full we went to 3 Halloween party and on this day of Halloween I was so tough it out of Halloween costumes I decided to be comfortable and coordinated with my daughter as she was a ladybug and I just decided to coordinate in the Beautiful sweater and head wrap.

The other pictures are among some of my favorites of the past 7 months. Ahhh how quickly time flies when one has a child. Very cliche but very true it seems like in the blink of an eye we have made it this far. By taking one day at a time one Journey at a time one step at a time when smiling Time 1 stylus Journey at a time we have made it here.

I sincerely thank you for reading Rocking With Us stylishly. Going on this journey with us. Reading Lurking commenting etc etc.

Until next we meet as always be well on your stylist Journey.

SO MUCH HAPPINESS, LOVE, FUN & GOOD SPIRIT HERE. I'm touched and emotional looking at the pics.

I LOVE the way you coordinate your outfits with lil' Nugget. And  ladybirds (as I call them), are my favourite insects. Bless your hearts.

  • Joyce B replied 6 years ago

Zi’Joy is such a beautiful and happy baby! You both look gorgeous, I think she has a bubbly personality, just like her mommy.

  • Sal replied 6 years ago

Lovely pics/ fab clothes and even better smiles! Teething can be tough- and knowing if it is teething or not is also hard I found.

You both suit a range of colours - the soft pink is great on you - not sure I have seen that before.

  • Elle replied 6 years ago

Lovely pictures - you both look so stylish. It's so nice to see you enjoying your baby - children are little miracles.  Parenting isn't easy but so so rewarding

Just popping in to say how much I enjoy your updates, Ledonna! As an older mom (48 and my daughter turns 6 in Jan.) I feel like I am in my best headspace possible for taking on the challenges of parenting, at my current age (I would have been nowhere near ready prior to now). And the challenge of maintaining a style identity plus career and parenthood, it's triple-challenging! I lurk more than I participate here, but I always get inspiration from your posts! Big hugs!

#10! If that isn't the cutest ladybug I've ever seen I don't know what is. You're a pretty cute Mama bug too, Ledonna. I love looking back at all these moments. I would never have believed it's already been seven months.

You two are very cute in your matching Halloween outfits. I love ladybirds, and Zion'Joy is gorgeous in her costume. I agree, being a Mum later in life is such a blessing. I have just the one, but he has transformed my life. Thanks for reminding me to go give him a big hug!

Thanks for sharing such a lovely collection of photos of Zi' Joy and you. So special.

One of my daughters had a thing for ladybirds. She requested a ladybird cake several times for birthdays and when she turned 6, had a ladybird party that she spent  months preparing for. I made ladybird capes for all the little girls attending.

I want to eat her up in nr 11, happy 7th BirthMonth'sDay to Zion Joy! YLF, both!:-)

  • RobinF replied 6 years ago

Such fun pictures! You look so happy and Zion Joy is such a cutie, love that smile. Her ladybug costume is the cutest. All that cuteness makes it hard for me to see the outfits but I sure love your hair in #14.

Happy 7 month day to sweet Zi’Joy!
What a treasure trove of memories you are creating for her with these wonderful photos!

  • Sara L. replied 6 years ago

OMG, she's just so cute!  She certainly looks sassy in her bib.  I love your matching Halloween costumes.  Your version of the ladybug is perfect without it being over the top.  I also love you in that cobalt blue top - the color is great on you.

  • Sisi replied 6 years ago

Happy Month-Day! Thank you for the beautiful pictures Ledonna, full of colors and joy! I cannot pic a favorite. The two of you look adorable in the Ladybug outfits. Picture nr. 17 is a piece of art, with the emerald water in the background. I also like Zion Joy very much in the striped onesie and the yellow garland. She is so pretty in all her headpieces !

  • Marilyn replied 6 years ago

What a beautiful post, Ledonna.  :)

Happy 7 months to Zi'Joy.  Enjoy every moment!  Next thing you know you'll be tucking her teeth under her pillow for the Tooth Fairy.  :)

Zi'joy is adorable and has the perfect name. I can see the joy radiating from both of you! I love the matchy matchy mom-daughter looks (isn't that the best?!) especially the ladybugs. And the floral headbands are so pretty. So great to see you both!

  • approprio replied 6 years ago

Amazing as ever! I like #7 for the bold colour blocking and #14 for the camo and pink tulle. And because I can see your hair. (Wraps are fab, but it's nice for a change).

You gave me a start though. I know time flies as we get older, but I couldn't believe it had been a whole year.

Happy birthday to Z, and happy "birthing day" to you. There are so many changes and stages at this age, it's great you're rolling with it and enjoying the moment. So many great pix here. Not sure if 12 or 20 is my favorite. From the backpack, I assume you've gotten the gear-lugging down to a reasonable amount. That's great. And what are those pockets in the first pix? Not many could pull that off, but you wear them well. Thanks for sharing.

  • Ginkgo replied 6 years ago

Lovely!  I enjoy your posts and seeing what you and Z'Joy are up to -- as you say, your daughter has a full calendar.  #5 is my favorite photo of the two of you.

  • Barbara Diane replied 6 years ago

So happy to see you two. I love following your journey, style wise and experience wise. Thanks.

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

Oh my goodness thank you so much everyone I wish I could address everyone individually. You know my hands are full with a seven-month-old oh my goodness they are like spider monkeys and alligators all rolled into one. She is starting her crawling phase now and also teething phase so yay for me!

My hair is growing like a weed I know exactly what I want to do to it but I'm waiting and letting it grow and letting it rest. As a a woman of color or a black woman our hair can be very sensitive in on different types of weather environments. I keep it covered which is called a protective style many people will wear braids or will wear their hair locked or will wear wigs because I hear is very sensitive to styling even though most natural look very curly or tight knit or loose knit curls are here is very sensitive.

Let's hear it for the older moms yet I called his middle-aged mom's but people don't like that but. I have a Facebook group that I want administrator of and a we are all over 40 and life is just blossoming it within that group with moms with babies or toddlers of 1 year olds are two year olds in newborns are getting ready to go through the pregnancy phase. It's such an amazing group and I love that we get to support and celebrate each other and they're more or less than I even knew.

I love being able to connect with you all and thank you for being so receptive to Zion'Joy & I.
