Dare to wear & Dare to be there...

Well I hope this day finds you well family.

So this post is titled dare to wear and Dare to be there. The reason why I titled this as such is because that, is a journey that I am on currently in my life. It is me and my sidekick Zi'Joy 24/7 I never thought I'd be that type of person to enjoy being a mom being a mid-life mom at-44 almost. So I dare to wear activewear this weekend.

So we are participating in an 8-week course of Aqua baby swim for half an hour on Saturday mornings and then a mommy-and-me toddler/ Walker class of yoga. If you asked me for 5, 3, 2 years ago, if this would be my life I would have been like heck no. So although I did not get a great picture of my swimming suit it is a one piece skirted kind of 1940s vintage swimsuit and what I'll do is next Saturday I will have full pictures of the swimsuit. And also I got to wear activewear we found some military camouflage for our mommy and me yoga class I loved it I've been planning this for a while. The classes for yoga were on Sunday after church and we just had such a great time. It wasn't like a regular yoga class because we all had Toddlers and Walkers and the class was adapted to them and I loved the free-form but we still got to do yoga.

Pre baby these are things that I loved to do. I love swimming I love meditation I love yoga these things were geared to the life that I created When I was single. I happened to find a wonderful group on Facebook which is amazing that utilized the niche of where moms who had a life before can have a life after baby. Not saying you don't have a life but have social interaction can be limiting and isolating with a baby. Healthy positive social interaction and located close to where it's easy and convenient for me to travel. It's amazing what we can do when we put our minds to it where we miss something in our lives the creativity knows no bounds. And these activities are geared towards women who entrepreneurs, are full-time moms, who are full-time busy career women like myself and utilize the time in a great manner.

I really like the mommy and me yoga & found great Lycra and something to fit who we are in our style. Well in my style for baby at least.

So I say dare to wear because many women my age are afraid to wear form-fitting body-hugging outfits. But if you get the right swimsuit and if you get the right activewear for your body and your shape then you can modify to fit and feel how you would like it too. I encourage you to go and try some things on. My body is not Beach ready. One year after having baby and I don't know when it will be but, getting the time in to bond and exercise makes me feel like I'm on a high good energy high and I love it. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I hope it brings a smile to your face and I hope wherever your travels take you that you will do it fashionably and you will do it with confidence. We would love to thank MaMa Fresh Chi for hosting these Fab events. You can find her on FB and also blog of the same name.

As always be well in your fashionable Journey...

Wow, Zi-joy is indeed a "major cutie"! I like both your outfitsand hers of course.! Looks like you both are having lots of fun.

  • Kathie replied 6 years ago

Love all the amazing adventures you’re finding for yourself and Zi’Joy! She’s adorable in the matching camo!

  • kkards replied 6 years ago

i love that you are doing what you love and getting your little bundle of joy involved in it! and of course major bonus points for the matching outfits!

  • Amy Isabella replied 6 years ago

Little Zi'Joy could not be more adorable and you both look fab. Your smile says it all :). Your daughter is so lucky to have you for her Mum.

  • Jenni NZ replied 6 years ago

Oh major cutie all right! I can see why you're addicted to doing matchy matchy clothes with her. I adore the lacing on your own camo leggings and it's so neat how it references your previous Army career!
You also look great in the pool. You're looking really fit and strong. I think, not having been a new mother at 42 myself, ( and aren't you bringing her up on your own essentially?), that it's just as well you are fit and strong cos that's hard work. I was 35 having the last baby and seem to remember feeling my body struggling from being that much older than having the first one at 29 almost 30. Hugs to you from here!

Oh come on ... That baby girl is unreal in her cuteness. Ledonna, this is cheesy and cliche, but true ... The time you are spending with your daughter is the most precious time of your life - and hers. Enjoy every second. And dress for the job with pride! We don't judge surgeons for wearing scrubs. Why do we judge moms chasing babies and toddlers for wearing activewear? And when you look as fab as you and Zion'Joy ... Wear it with pride Mom!!!

  • pil replied 6 years ago

I swear that little girl Nugget of yours gets cuter every time we see her! You’re a great role model for her, Ledonna, she’s a lucky little gal.

  • Bijou replied 6 years ago

Gorgeous to see you both having so much fun together! You both rock a good camouflage print.

  • cindysmith replied 6 years ago

I wish working out felt as fun for me as it looks for you guys!

  • delurked replied 6 years ago

I’m in love with you guys in matching camo. Totally up my alley. Glad you are finding activities to do together that bring you happiness and socializing.

  • Christina F. replied 6 years ago

    Awww, you both look adorable.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

Your matching camouflage is KILLER SUBLIME. You guys are cuter than cute.

  • replied 6 years ago

Ledona you are beautiful in your camouflage outfit you are both a wonderful family

  • replied 6 years ago

    So.  Much.  Adorableness!

Lovely to see you and your nugget!  That "major cutie" outfit is just the best!  And I love your lace-up leggings.

All great photos especially 12 which I think captures something about mothering that's hard to put in words. You are definitely doing it.

I really love the mommy and me programs you've chosen, action focused and ideal for both of you.

As always, wishing the best for the both of you.

  • rachylou replied 6 years ago

The matching camo is awesome :)

  • Cardiff girl replied 6 years ago

You and your mini you look totally awesome in matching cami and at the pool.

  • replied 6 years ago

Love her fatigue shirt- Major Cutie for sure:-). Great mom and me look.
Love the first pic- always adorable when they are so bundled they look like a face on a Michelin man body- lol
Wonderful job giving her exposure to so many terrific activities at a young age - I tire of seeing tiny tots playing with a phone or laptop instead of enjoying and experiencing life. Way to go mom!

  • DonnaF replied 6 years ago

The two of you are beyond adorable! Your joy and love for Zi'Joy are gifts beyond measure -- and not just for her but for us spectators as well.

As older moms, (I was 40.5 when DD was born), we bring a different perspective to parenting. At least for me, I did not resent not being able to go out and party and the like because I had already been there, done that.

Glad to have you back. Keep posting!

  • RIPirate replied 6 years ago

You look fantastic! Love how you keep your strength and identity while embracing the way motherhood/womanhood changes us!!

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

It looks like you are having a blast as a mommy. Your camo yoga outfits are so fab.

  • Jaime replied 6 years ago

Zi'Joy has the best look on her face in every picture. I think you are handling motherhood fabulously!

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

Shevia she has runway bottle fierceness
DonnaF - I agree with you wholeheartedly it's good to meet another old 40 mom. I regret nothing I had a chance to do all that. I just wanted to get out of the house you stopped going to the library although I love going to the library we needed to expand our horizons

Efbgen- oh she plays with the laptop. Where else can we find Sesame Street songs right at hand or Mr Rodger. I love mr. Rogers. Most of the time that's in the car when she's bored as heck wants to cry but that's okay everything has its place but we have to get out and experience the world also
Isabel- these are things that we can take back home and modify to our home life. Sensory touch yoga stretching color I love it

Pil I feel as if I'm the lucky one.

Toronto Girl- at my swimming class I've heard with some women say that they hated being in a swimsuit and that they make their husbands to it. It's so sad that we can just be comfortable enough to love ourselves and love our children enough to do what we should do and feel what is right. Like this really be a no judgement zone when it comes to mom's mom shaming.

Jenny NZ- oh my body is very different than then 22 or 32 or just different. I'm more fatigued and more when did I'm not in the best shape of my life but spiritually mentally and emotionally I surely am and I figured by this time 2 years from now I won't be skinny but I'll be more in shape because I'm running after this child like no other.

Joy,RIPirate, CardiffGirl, RachyLou, BARBARA Diane,Ryce, Bernard, Angie, Christina F, delurked, CindySmith,Bijou, Amy Isabel, kkards, kathie, Anne,- thank you all for your very positive words I'm addicted to camo I think everybody knows that by now I love it fashionable camo. And it is because of my military background 10 years in Army will do that to you I don't wear those pins and hats things like the older veterans but I will rocket camouflage print. I used to get offended by people who are that but no longer we all have our choices. It is such a joy to be a mom at this age it really is

It's hard to believe I was very crusty old woman but I was even in my twenties and thirties. I think well I believe in God so I think that God shaped me to be where I needed to be so I could be ready for my baby in my 40s. And for that I'm thankful.

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

    Thank you

  • Kate replied 6 years ago

Oh, I just saw this post, and I love it. You and Nugget are so cute in your camo. I am just stunned by how much she has grown. And to see her walking is just amazing. You're so right about just finding a good bathing suit that fits and getting out there to enjoy the things you love to do. And I do love to swim—I grew up on the water—and you've inspired me to find a good suit, get back in the water, and enjoy swimming this summer.

  • Ledonna N. replied 6 years ago

Kate Now that is what I'm talking about.  QVC and HSN have great bathing suits.  I like you grew up in the water.  It was my second home and became such when I was pregnant.  It allowed me to feel like myself while I felt big as a house on land in the water i was all of that and bag of chips.  Thank yo for reading.
