A day at the Fleek Market...

Hey Family,

What do Thrifters wear to thrift?

I say anything we want too. I went to an event this past Sunday called Fleek Market. It was the last one of the year. The event is held monthly from April thru December with free entry and 40+ vendors.

Currently we are excited and expecting a little baby nugget so I went on a mission. My mission was,to find baby clothing. Of course my sister and I are thrifting her whole wadrobe.

I walked away with 3 large bags of baby clothes for $40.

Mission accomplished!!!!!

Thrift or Thrifty $$$

Camouflage Hat - Foreman Mills $3
Earings bought at The Fleek -$5
Sweater Top/blouse - City Trends $6
Strech belt -$2 Salvation Army
Denim Maternity jeans-Goodwill-$4
Leggings cut and worn on arms - Salvation Army $1

Denim bag custom made- Creative Flow by Shay

Total $21 for complete fit. You know how we do to get creative.

This looks like a fun day, Ledonna, and you look super stylish.  I love the layering on the top.  I am sure you little nugget is going to be one of the most stylish babies in the area.

Yes, wear whatever you like !  I think that when you are especially buying for someone else ( and you don't need to try anything on ) just being comfortable is all that matters.

I have mad a New Year's resolution to attend flea markets. I have some great china tea cups and some colorful china luncheon plates that I LOVE and got at a flea market.  I want to do more that. There are ALWAYS such interesting finds there.  Rae, who used to be on YLF, once took several of us to a GINORMOUS one in CA somewhere. It was so much fun.

I CANNOT believe that you are more than half way through your baby making time.  Merry Christmas.

( Oh, LOVE the black hat with the pom pom "ears" )

I think you look great! Definitely looks like more than $21. You're as beautiful as ever and I'm a little jealous that you have so many wonderful choices for thrifting.
Keep smiling, it always brightens my day to see it!

What a fun shopping trip! You have some festive bling on too. Don't forget baby toys and books. It's not too soon to start collecting the odd Duplos that can later all be used together.

Wow! That looks like my high school gym! Looks like you had fun. Used baby clothes are such a great deal. They're usually hardly worn because babies grow out of them so quickly.

Great outfit!  I love the soft greys and the silver belt.  Wow, good job with the baby clothes!

Super fun! My kiddo wears almost entirely hand-me-downs and thrift store finds. Kids grow so fast a lot of their clothes don't get a chance to wear out! We have a great shop up the road from us called "Cheap Kids" where we bring our outgrown stuff and buy the next size up. He like getting new clothes, but doesn't like giving his old ones away to "other babies" as he says.

And that denim tote bag -- awesome!!

What a great shopping trip, and you can put all the money you saved into little nugget's college fund, LOL!  Mom looks very stylish and happy.  Stay warm up there in the Chi!

Little Ms. Nugget is going to be the fabbest baby around. Love your thrifting outfit of course!

You are an expert thrifter! And I must say, your smile in #7 is gorgeous!

The belt and the necklace add some nice bling to the grey top, the bag is interesting, but the absolute winner is your smile!

I also really like the scarf. It looks great on you and its colours suits you so well - it makes your face even more vibrant than it already is.

All the best to you and the little fashionista in the making.

Thank you family for your wonderful responses. The time goes so quickly it is hard to believe it has been well 6 months on this coming Friday. I'm glad I'll get to thrift for someone else besides myself and a few clients. Friends have been so generous donating new and gently preloved items. It is amazing and great deals to be had.

I am looking for cds and books. My sister just got little nugget the book Go Dog Go by Dr. Seuss. I used to love his book and given my mom was a Library Science Teacher. We had all of the latest to read growing up.

Currently my favorite book for babies/kids/adults is called I'll love you forever by Robert Munsch.

The book is currently on you-tube. It made me cry the 1st time I read it. I gave a copy to my sister for her youngest.

    the earrings are AMAZINGGGGGGGGG

I hesitate to say this, as I believe all women look fabulous at all stages of pregnancy, but you look amazing at 23 weeks! Just be careful about the clothing, because different babies wear different sizes depending on their own specific growth charts. I had babies that NEVER wore 0-3 months clothing, and who outgrew "age-appropriate clothing" incredibly fast. I have friends who had children who had babies who wore smaller sizes than their ages until they hit a growth spurt. So a person never can tell what sizes (at what seasons) a child will need.

Still and all, you cannot lose for a $40 expenditure and a day having fun, so it was well worth it! It is great to "see" you here. Best of luck during your pregnancy. You seem very healthy so far, and that is GREAT!

    You made out good :)

  • Ledonna N. replied 7 years ago

Yes we made out with great deals.

I love love the earings they are a statement.

Echo you are so right. The person we have chosen to be the godfather has a 2 year old and has given us all of her baby clothes. So with extend networks of friends whom have babies and the thrift group I belong in. Things can be register and or sold.
